Catalonia, next state of Europe

Always be remembered 2012 as the year of the awakening of the Catalan people. The majority wants a change, wants a country with its own identity, not to continue being battered by Spain. The emergence of grassroots movements such as the Assemblea Nacional Catalana and the Associació de Municipis per la Independència is a good example.  The surveys give support to this desire: the 51.1% of the Catalan people are inclined by independence (CEO, June 2012).

The slogans “INDEPENDENCE” and “NEW STATE OF EUROPE” are the most listened in the concentration of 9/11/2012. The politicians, however, seek to dilute the slogans with minor items as “fiscal pact”, “economic agreement” or “confederation with Spain”, thinking that independence is not feasible right now. And others, few, fighting against the freedom of the Catalan people.

The independence of Catalonia is difficult and costly but necessary to survive as an ancient nation.

Relevant people state that around the new Catalan state may become the model for all the countries of southern Europe, a competitive model, financially supportive, respectful with the environment that believes in the excellence and in the innovation.

The Catalans will appropriate independence without anyone’s permission. The “final decision” is only in their hands.
